For the avoidance of doubt, by officials I do not mean referees and tournament managers. They should be paid in full and have the same standard of everything as athletes. There is no justifiable reason for them to be out of pocket. It is committee men/women and hangers-on that need to be looked at.

Not my area of expertise but some US NPOs are required to stipulate their efficiency rates. Tell what actually gets distributed to their 'cause'.

    Some are astonishingly bad.

Auditing the US orgs should be relatively easy.

From Wikipedia ... and speaking as a board member of a non-profit ...

"The Form 990 provides the public with financial information about a given organization, and is often the only source of such information. It is also used by government agencies to prevent organizations from abusing their tax-exempt status. In June 2007, the IRS released a new Form 990 that requires significant disclosures on corporate governance and boards of directors. These new disclosures are required for all nonprofit filers for the 2009 tax year, with more significant reporting requirements for nonprofits with over $1 million in revenues or $2.5 million in assets. In addition, certain nonprofits have more comprehensive reporting requirements, such as hospitals and other health care organizations (Schedule H). The Form 990 may be filed with the IRS by mail or electronically with an Authorized IRS e-file Provider."

... it's all in there, compensation, income sources, program expenses, etc.

I can't find where USA Judo has had theirs published on line ... I found the USJA but don't want to drag them into this .... a skilled solicitor such as the lovely Stacey or the hard-driven Dennis R Scheib should be able to cook the USA Judo form up faster than an undercooked e-coli burger ... for example by calling and asking? For your reference it's 719-866-4730.

granted, 2012 isn't there, but 2011 is interesting -more than 1.5M in revenue, running at a loss, and descriptions like, "$204,670 for Senior competitions: various programs related to competitio[n] events for senior athletes"

and "$760,243 High Performance: development of the sport of judo by provi[ding] camps, clinics, and other related programs"

    gotta love it.

2009 and 2010 seem similar, available links at
    http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Judo/About-Us/Financials/2009
    http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Judo/About-Us/Financials/2010

There is a breakout for the details of the 'High Performance' program - lots of salaries, travel, etc.
