    Helooooo,

I am so very pleased to read some good news. This is indeed fantastic news. You are obviously and rightly a very proud dad! I wish you and your lovely family all the very best for a wonderful future together. I just know you are going to treasurer every moment and so you should.

    May I share with you?

My wife was a lady in the true sense of the word. Very professional and very Victorian in manner. She never swore and never lost her temper. One could question how this was possible being married to me? Onward.

I went to all the pre natal classes etc but nothing can prepare one for the day of the birth. I really should write a book about it.
Its the big day and we are in the delivery room where my dearest is going though hell with the contractions. Point is I am also going through hell with her contractions. You see early on she grabbed my left hand and every time she had a contraction so did I! It was something out of a comedy film looking back.
I was in absolute agony. Of course I could not protest as she lay there in that awful position suffering with agony but every time she had a contraction my knees bent and I bit my Right hand index finger. There was sweat all over the place, not hers...MINE. I felt so ill. One of the medics shouted.... "Breath o o o o ".... So I did only to be told " Not you your wife".  She was furious, she used words I had never heard her use and she called me all the so and so's under the sun for 'putting her in this state', "never again" she said then another contraction and I was again nearly on the floor.
Gas and air was the thing..'yes please, said I'...., " Not you, your wife".... More filthy looks form every one in the room. You see no one knew what she was doing to my hand! I feared she was going to break it off and just be lying there holding this detached hand with me on the floor left hand les! My knees where bending with the pain yet I could say nothing. I thought my face was going to explode and feared any second I would give birth to 'something' in the rear of my trousers!
After what seemed like hours (only half an hour), eventually my youngest arrived. I was sitting in a chair holding her in my arms and had no idea if the tears rolling down my face where with the joy of seeing her or the relief that my wife no longer had hold of my throbbing swollen left hand!

My wife was correct it never did happen again, nope, the next time she went into the delivery room on her own. I sat outside clutching my left hand with a sort of rye smile.

    Very best wishes,

    Mike

haha, yeah, we wanted me to be in the same room when the birth was happening. We shopped for a hospital that would allow it and thought we found one until my wife went into the room and the nurse stopped me at the door. I'm thinking it might have been a good thing.

To you and Mrs Q. hearty congratulations.

I might add that you are very lucky, I agree with Mike Hanon on the delivery room thing, I have had fingers and thumbs dislocated too..........I have three children, (all aduilts now), but you must now look forward to your little bundle of happiness growing up and costing you hundreds of thousands of dollars in the future.....which you will gladly spend on her.
