PS, never try to "rescue" a deer that is down on the highway by grabbing it and dragging it to the shoulder of the road. Even though it looks crippled.

I am rather tempted to tell a chemistry joke, but unfortunately all the good ones Argon. It is such a shame. Last time I told one about the noble gases there was no reaction!

Very Happy I still find it morbidly amusing that after the discovery of Radium but before people realised that exposure to radioactive decay is generally not a particularly healthy thing, it became quite common practice to include it as an additive in sorts of products... including toothpaste and condoms...

I wish it was not titled "Judo instructor"

You meet the odd ego person in your travels who stiffens up on demonstrations, normally have to combo or change technique but throw him anyway, then ask another uke. The class tends to know. So just smile it off but explain that like in any judo "move" you need to modify for physical differences.

I am guilty of doing something similar at a Budo weekend when the Akido instructor asked me to be he's uke, probably because I had taken a randori class of senior low kyu's in the morning and if the throw was halfway good then I had no problem throwing myself. Plus I could always make the modest NagaNo look a lot better so was always in demand...
The Akido instructor with Hakama asked me to grab his wrist which I did my judo body just did not do what he wanted it to do, he lifted my arm up I just spun around with him as I did not feel safe being thrown with my arm twisted so I ended putting him of balance, he was not a very fit(bit porky)guy and he fell over. I apologised, his face was pure anger this was 30yrs ago and I can still see that face.... Later he did a multiple attack I was not invited to attack him Twisted Evil

The black tab on the belt is the area where you put your promotion tags. The black BJJ belt has a red tab for the same purpose. Not all BJJ clubs/practitioners use those belts, but they are popular.

Tags are popular in BJJ and depending on your club you may have multiple in different colors going up the belt, so you need somewhere to put them!

Thanks for that I have met very few fully bearded judoka on my travels, so he must be a BJJ guy Very Happy

We used to grow a bit of beard stubble before a competition, used correctly it helps to irritate the opposition when in ground work. Could do a whole lesson of naughty "borderline" techniques to dan grades silent silent
