Promotion of Eric Hänni to 9th dan

Post by Cichorei Kano on Thu May 15, 2014 2:17 am

I would like to announce, and congratulate, Swiss jûdôka Eric Hänni with his promotion to 9th dan.

Hänni was a silver medal winner at the 1964 Olympics, a bronze medal at the 1964 European Championships, 6 Swiss national titles, and 3 national team championships. The news is a few months old, as the promotion took place in January. Sorry for the delay in reporting this. Hänni is the first Swiss jûdôka to obtain the rank of 9th jûdô within the Swiss jûdô federation, although there is also a Japanese gentleman residing in the country who holds a 9th dan IMAF.

The International Martial Arts Federation (IMAF) gent you mentioned, Mitsuhiro Kondo sensei, 9th dan judo, went to Switzerland in 1958. He recently retired and returned to Japan. Mr. Robert Rapin is the current IMAF Branch Director for Switzerland.
