    dojokun 道場訓

    Post by noboru on Fri Jan 09, 2015 2:16 am

    Hi all,
    does have your dojo any rules for member of dojo? I know that some dojo from budo family has dojokun 道場訓 (training hall rules) for their members. The meaning is, that the dojokun helps to members in their dojo practice and in life outside dojo too.

    Does the your judo dojo have any dojokun?

    For example:
    JKA karate:
    - Seek perfection of character
    - Be sincere
    - Put maximum effort into everything you do
    - Respect others
    - Develop self-control

    Iaido Yaegakikai Brusel:
    – Show courtesy, respect and honesty towards others.
    – Develop confidence through knowledge, honesty and strength.
    – Never use violence for personal gain.
    – Seek perfection of character.

    The advanced practicioners ( with grade oku-iri ) of Shinto Musô Ryû under FEJ (European Jodo Federation) keep to gojou 五常:
    the five Confucian virtues -  benevolence 仁, righteousness 義|义, propriety 禮|礼, wisdom 智 and fidelity 信;

    Some judo clubs in Japan have own dojokun  道場訓 too - for example below are links to their texts in japanese:
